My dog has a fluid blister after neutering. Should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 7 months and 28 days old | 13 lbs

My dog was neutered on Aug 14th. He developed a fluid blister near his incision site. He's been behaving normally and the incision has healed nicely. Is there anything I can do to reduce the blister?

Just make sure he isn't licking at it, use an Ecollar if necessary to prevent him from licking. It should go down on its own over the next couple of weeks. If it seems to be getting worse (bigger, or red and inflamed, or oozing etc) , or is becoming more bothersome to him, take him to your vet to have it looked at.
