My dog keeps biting a red, raw spot on her back. Why won't she stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 15 years and 8 months old | 50 lbs

My dog is biting at a spot on her back and it's red and raw. We have an inflatable collar on her which helps to keep her from biting the spot but when the collar is off she goes back to biting the spot.

It's obvious this spot is bothering Mysty, and I would have her checked out by a vet today or tomorrow. The vet can diagnose what is causing this issue and can treat it so you can take the collar off.
