My cat had stillborn kittens. What should I do about spasms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

My cat gave birth to a stillborn litter 3 days ago. She has had light blood discharge yesterday and today (which I think is normal after birth) but I noticed she started having muscle spams in her lower back and legs a few minutes ago. She ate well today, she drank water and she was acting normal. Is this bad? What should I do?

I recommend you have Mira seen by a vet immediately in case she has any more kittens stuck in her birth canal, or in case she has an infection in her uterus. If either of these are the case, they could be life threatening. If not, then the vet can help determine if she needs further care for whatever else may be going on with her. I hope she feels better soon!
