Thanks for reaching out about Flippy and including a photo. The eyes and neck are swollen, and by your description, it appears he has a respiratory infection. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan that should include a vitamin A and calcium injections and systemic antibiotics. The diet and husbandry practices need to be reviewed and corrected. Good luck.

I would recommend making sure your turtle is still eating and has access to a UV lamp to bask. If your turtle is not eating, not wanting to bask, and not swimming, then he is most likely ill. I would recommend taking him to see a veterinarian that is comfortable working with reptiles to be checked out.

He may have a respiratory infection. This is a serious illness if left untreated. Have Babliu examined by your veterinarian or a vet experineced in treating reptiles for confirmation. Treatment is usually antibiotics. In the meantime, increase the temperature in the tank by 5 to 10 degrees F to aid in recovery. Make sure he continues to eat.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is most likely a water quality issue. I would suggest starting with a deep clean of the tank and changing his diet to something else in case he is not eating as well and is having diarrhea because of the diet he is currently on. If he does not eat better with the new diet and his diarrhea does not improve, I would suggest you consider going to your veterinarian who can test the water, gather more information and proceed with more specific recommendations. Hopefully things improve with this first step. Best of luck!
