How long can an older dog live with aggressive mammary cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 10 year old staffordshire bull terrier has just been diagnosed with Poorly differentiated tubular mammary carcinoma with areas of anaplastic carcinoma with lymph node metastasis. The mitotic rate is 26/10 hpf which I believe means its very aggresive. what are the survival times for something like this

It can vary from patient to patient, but without aggressive surgery and additional therapies like chemotherapy, it may only be weeks or months. Additional testing that would be needed is abdominal ultrasound and blood work. It is probably a question best directed to the vet that diagnosed the cancer, since they have more information on your case than I do.
