My kitten ate garlic chicken. Will he be okay since he has a cold?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

I fed my kitten chicken seasoned with garlic before remembering that garlic is toxic to cats. It was only a little bit but I'm worried because his health is already compromised since he has a cold (I'm giving him veterinarian prescribed medicine for that). Will he be okay?

Hello, and thanks for your question. The toxic effects of garlic are dose-dependent, so if it was just a small amount, Bean will probably be fine. If you're worried, I recommend having him seen by your vet to check a CBC, which looks at his red and white blood cell values. Garlic can cause red blood cell damage, so this will help ensure that his numbers are still ok. In general though, if he's not showing any symptoms, he will probably do just fine. Here's a little more information on garlic in cats: https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/poison/garlic/ Hope this helps!
