Kitten threw up a worm. Should I go to the vet or buy medicine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 24 days old | 3 lbs

This morning, our three month old kitten threw up and there was a worm in the vomit. The worm looked like a roundworm. We don't know if we should wait for a vet appointment or go and buy medicine immediately. Would it be better to go to the vet and wait possibly a few days or go and buy store bought medication for roundworm? She was adopted less than three weeks ago, so we think she got it in the shelter.

Hi. Poor sprinkles. I would recommend waiting for a medication from the veterinarian. The medications coming from the veterinarian will work a lot better than over the counter medications in addition to getting a correct diagnosis. I would however try to get in somewhere tomorrow. Good luck
