My kitten's leg is swollen from a toy string. Can I put ice on it?

I have a six month old female kitten we rescued. She has a kitty cold and has been to the two times already. She is on meds and still has a watery eye. My question is I went to take her out of the crate and I noticed her left paw and leg as swollened. She had an elastic string that was on her wand toy wrapped around her leg. I have no idea how long that was like that. Could that cause the swollen condition? Can I put her paw and leg in ice?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Sandy. Yes, this electric string could cause the swelling. You can try putting some ice on the paw and leg to see if that helps, but if she is limping on the leg, the paw feels cold (before you put the ice on), or the swelling gets worse, you have to take her into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!
