My dog has a spreading skin rash. What could it be and how to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 4 years and 9 months old | 50 lbs

Hi, my 5 year old pit bull was bit by something or has some kind of rash. We were at the vet in June and all his blood and urine was fine. This started about a month ago, with one spot but it seems to be spreading. Does this look like something you’ve seen before? How should we proceed to help him?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Zeus. He appears to have a superficial skin infection. There are numerous causes of this, but this time of year seasonal allergies are common. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian if the symptoms have been present for one month. He will likely need antibiotics or a medicated shampoo to heal his skin. I hope this information helps!
