My stray cat's nipples are large. Is she pregnant? Are flea meds safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

I have a stray cat that has come as round, more recently I have noticed her nipples seemed larger. Not sure if she is or isnt, the vets by me some have any openings for 2 weeks. Humane society is booked by me and said not to drop off pets. Just want to see if she is or isnt. And of it is safe to give her flea meds if she is. I have 2 cats of my own but they are indoors, if she is pregnant I would want to give her flea kes and bring her inside separated

There is no way for us to tell if she is pregnant through pictures. You could try laying your hands on her belly for a few minutes and see if you feel kittens. Other things that cause a distended abdomen include uterine infection, liver failure, tumors, etc. Enlarged nipples could be caused by current or previous pregnancy. many flea medications are safe for pregnant cats, but you should read the label on the back of the packaging to see if the specific one you find is ok or not.
