Dog ate carpet, passing it. What signs mean I need to see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 26 days old | 66 lbs

My pup chewed a section of carpeting and padding last night. He seems to be acting fine today... he’s eating, drinking, playing. I just took him out to poop and lots of carpet strands were there. Is there anything I can give him to help push it through his system or should I take him to the vet for an X-ray if certain signs become present? Thank you.

Unfortunately there's really nothing you can give Carmine to make this carpet pass, it either will or it won't. Since carpet is coming out now, just keep an eye on him. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, or lethargy, then I would have him seen by a vet immediately. I hope this helps!
