My ferret has oral cancer. How to manage his pain and comfort?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Ferret | Male | neutered | 3 years and 7 months old | 2.4 lbs

Willy has been diagnosed with squaoma cell carcinoma in his mouth. I heard its aggressive. How much time do you think he has? I need to know how much time I have left with him. What am I to expect as in the changes in him? What will he be like? How painful is it? What do I need to do to make him as comfortable as possible? When should I put him down? . how rare is this cancer orally in ferrets?He's angry that he has it n throes tantrums. I know nothing about cancers. He's my soulmate help

It's really hard to tell how much time he may left. The vet that diagnosed the cancer may have a better idea based on the location and potential metastasis during their examination and testing. Any type of oral cancer can be very painful. There are several pain medication options that can help, and I would recommend discussing all of the options wit your vet. You could also look for a hospice vet in your area that will see ferrets. Quality of life is unique to each pet and owner, so there won't be an easy way for me to tell you when it is "time."
