My cat had a seizure, fell from tower, then seemed fine. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 11 lbs

Kovu just fell off of his cat tower and had a seizure that lasted about 2 minutes. When he woke up he was blind and drooling a lot and he kept crying. Now he seems like nothing happened. I don’t think there was anything he could have gotten in to and he’s an inside cat. What caused this and will it happen again? What should I do? I think he had a seizure and that’s why he fell. He was at the top of his tower when he fell. I’m worried about him. This never happened to him before.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Kovu. Oh no, poor boy! That sounds awful. It could be an idiopathic seizure, meaning there is no known cause. There is a potential it could happen again, so I do think he should see a vet as soon as possible to get checked out, taking him into an ER vet tonight if you can. Best of luck.
