Why is my senior unspayed dog limping, stretching, with a breast lump?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 11 years and 3 months old | 11 lbs

Hello! One of my Chihuahua’s had a lump near her breasts about a month ago. It has gone down significantly, and it’s barely there. Today, I noticed that she was limping on one of her hind legs, but she wasn’t yesterday. She has also been stretching a lot (downward dog position). Is this signs of anything? She is about 11 years old, and is not spayed/neutered.

There could be a few things going on with Tiny. If she isn't spayed, she could have a mammary tumor, those are common in unspayed dogs. Even though the lump has gone down, still have it checked out by a vet as 50% of mammary tumors are malignant. While there, the vet can check out her hind leg. She is in pain if she's limping, and she may be painful leading her to stretch a lot. Please take her into the vet in the morning.
