Is bright red blood in my cat's poop a sign of kidney failure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 7 lbs

Is a little bit of bright red blood on the end of a shaped and formed, normally colored log of cats poo a sign of kidney failure or kidney problems?...my family seems to think she will be fine since she isn't showing any other signs and did have to take a few seconds to pass the last log.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That is not a sign of kidney failure. This may be due to irritation but it could also be due to a gastrointestinal issue which is why if this continues, she should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Have a good day!
