My dog is in heat, uncomfortable, and won't eat. What helps?

Lily is going through her first heat and won’t eat and very noticeably uncomfortable. Is it safe to have her lay on a heating pad or is there anything that could make her feel better and/or bring her appetite back? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 20 days old | 11 lbs

Poor Lily. You can try a heating pad, but keep the heat low and cover it with a towel so she doesn't get a burn. Offer her some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice. Have her seen by a vet if she won't eat this.
