My cat has weird, crusty, hot, and smelly skin. Is it an infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Female | spayed | 4 years and 7 months old | 7 lbs

What is this? What are the best at home care measures to take? There is no lumps or growths just the skin looking weird. She has feline eczema, she does not go outside, she has no fleas and gets a flea bath once every two weeks(due to sensitivities), there has been no puss but it has a weird crust to it and I wouldn’t say she smells rotten but she smells weird. The redness went down after an oatmeal bath last night, it feels slightly hot and wet to the touch

Sorry, it was hard to tell from the first photo. From these new photos (thank you for them!) it looks like a skin infection. Skin infections cannot be treated with home remedies, Blindy needs to see a vet to have this treated correctly. I hope this helps!
