My dog's face swelled fast. Could it be a lump or just a bug bite?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female

hello, my 13 year old mix is experiencing a swollen face. she seemed fined last night, thought when i checked her this morning her face seemed a bit swollen. it has gotten worse in the past few hours. she sleeps outside so a bug bite is possible, but i am afraid its something else like malicious lumps. i will be taking her to a vet for an opinion. for more info, is it possible for a bad kind of lump to grow rapidly as few hours? she does seem to be irritated a bit. i need an opinion. thks

That snout does look swollen. It is best to take her to your vet ASAP as you are doing as swelling of the face, neck, or head can quickly get serious. Your vet can give her a shot to help reduce the swelling quickly while they help find the cause of it. Bee stings and other insect bites can definitely cause swelling that quickly, especially if Candy ate a bee or wasp!
