Should I take my dog to the vet for swollen eye and diarrhea?

My dog has a bad swollen eye. It is getting puffy and he has bad diarrhea the past couple of days. Should I leave the swelling alone?

You should take him to the vet today to get it checked and treated, it could be an infection, an allergic reaction or a foreign body in the eye. i am not sure the diarrhea is related to the eye condition.

It could be Ramces has an eye infection or he has injured his eye. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into a vet now..

Poor Baby! The swollen right eye could be due to an injury or an eye infection. The diarrhea could be due to intestinal worms, GI illness, a change in diet, eating something rotten, or a foreign body. Given the eye problem, she will need to see a vet first thing in the morning. Any eye problem needs to be checked out promptly, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into a vet first thing the morning, where the vet can treat her eye and the diarrhea. Best of luck.

I would recommend taking Remington to your vet as soon as possible. Most dogs will squint if the eye is painful. The pictures make it look like he may have a skin infection beside his eye, and I'm concerned if he is squinting he may have an infection or irritation in his eye as well. The diarrhea may be related to what is going on with his eye or may be caused by something else, like intestinal parasites, eating something he shouldn't have, or bacterial or viral infection. Regardless, I think it would be best you take him in to get checked out and get some treatment for both his eye and diarrhea.

This is concerning and could be due to conjunctivitis as you pointed out though other possibilities such as a foreign body reaction, corneal ulcer or laceration or even inflammation of the periocular structures could also be going on. Regardless, this does warrant a visit to your veterinarian as soon as possible as he is likely painful. They would be able to examine his eye closely and start therapy based on findings. It could be an infection, allergic reaction, or secondary to trauma. Since it is so swollen, it would be best to have him examined and treated by a vet as soon as possible. You could take him to an emergency clinic in your area for treatment. Otherwise, if he is acting normal and doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort then call your vet first thing in the morning to schedule an appointment.

My dog has had diarrhea for the past couple of days and then I noticed he would kick around him bum area very often and I noticed it was swollen, is there anything I can do at. Home to help or do I need to seek medical attention?
Since the diarrhea has lasted for 48 hours, he should be seen by your veterinarian. The swelling could be an anal gland abscess or a tumor. An abscess will need to be lanced and drained. A tumor should be aspirated or biopsied to collect samples for pathology. Place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent licking until he sees the doctor. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth. Night may go home with a bland diet, antibiotics and pain medication depending on the diagnosis.

I noticed Buddy had a swollen eye about an hour ago and we don’t know what happened. It sort of looks cut, too. I put an ice pack on it for about 10 minutes. He threw up about 20 minutes ago but seemed fine before and after he did that.
Hi and thanks for posting. The area around his left eye appears swollen, red, and bleeding slightly. If this just suddenly occurred, it may be due to trauma to the eye or maybe a contact allergy. I would recommend Buddy get checked out with his veterinarian as soon as possible. He will need an eye exam to make sure the eye itself hasn't sustained any injury. Your vet may recommend blood work or x-rays to determine the cause of the vomiting as well. Until you are able to get to your veterinarian you can continue to ice the area.

This is an emergency, your vet should see you right away, if he refuses you have to take him to another vet that will see him today. cloudiness of the eye is a very serious symptom, there are several eye condition that could cause that but it is important to start the treatment urgently, otherwise permanent eye damage could occur.
