Why is my cat's head sensitive after falling and landing on his side?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 1.9 lbs

My cat was walking across the balcony and fell and landed on the other side of the stairs about 8 feet below where he was. Today he won’t let anyone touch his head at all. This is unusual for him because he’s always been a very cuddly and affectionate cat. Every time someone touches his head he pulls away and runs to hide. I’m concerned because he landed on his side not his head, but he’s not letting anyone touch his head

It sounds like Bear's head is hurting, and he may have hit the side of his head. Please do not give him any human pain medications. Many are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. I'd take him into the vet first thing in the morning.
