Allergic dog coughing with bad breath. Is it mucus or infection?

My dog has struggled with allergies of various kinds (mainly food and environmental) her entire life, so her recent flare up in response to the increase in grass pollen didn't surprise me. The typical bumps and itchiness. She did, however, develop a cough and subsequently bad breath this time. Could this be from the excess mucus, or is this possibly a respiratory infection, or something else? *We will be seeing our vet soon regardless of the severity*. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 60 lbs
