Is my cat mourning his brother? He won't stop meowing. How to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 years old | 16 lbs

My 6 year old cat suddenly passed away about a month ago from an underlying seizure condition. His brother won't stop meowing! They were bonded from birth and were together with a foster until I adopted them together at 8 weeks. He has been to the vet to see if anything is physically wrong and there isn't. Is he depressed? How can I help?

When one of a bonded pair dies, the other cat can mourn. Good on you for making sure Tapioca is healthy by having him see a vet. He may be lonely. I would consider getting another cat (if you are ready!), this may help.
