Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 2 months old | 44 lbs
Hello, I have a two-year-old Staffordshire mix that weighs 44 lb (20 kg). She is moderately active and currently doing intensive behavioural training. We have her on a daily 1,070 calorie diet (as recommended by another vet) and feel as though she's slightly underweight. Can you please advise as to what her daily intake should be and guidance for increasing it? Thanks! David

Unless I am putting a dog on a strict weight loss diet, I rarely calculate calories needed. If you feel like Peanut is underweight, start by adding 1/4-1/2 cup to her bowl twice a day for a few weeks and judge how she looks. If she isn't wanting to eat more food, then you can try changing her to a higher energy diet.
