My dog's eye is swollen, weeping, with discharge. Saline didn't help. What now?

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Male | neutered | 6 years old | 15 lbs

My dogs eye is quite swollen, weeping and irritating him with a little bit of discharge. I have been soothing and cleaning it with a home made saline solution but am unaware of what the problem is and what to do next. Is there anything i can do at home to help it?

Eyes are sensitive. If the saline solution does not help after 24 hours, it is unlikely to help. At this point, Tyson needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. He could have an eye infection, a foreign object trapped under the eye lid or a scratch on the cornea. These conditions are all painful so don't wait. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
