My dog has blood in his urine frequently. What should I do to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 40 lbs

Blood comes from the urine passage every second or third day of one of the dogs near my house, what can I do to help him, I work in some other city so it's not possible for me to carry him to the vet but I can send the required medications to my house where my mother can give it to him

Hi, and thanks for your question. These signs might be compatible with a urinary tract infection/inflammation. Stress related (idiopathic type of inflammation) infection and presence of crystals are the most common causes of it. Unfortunately a clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed (but we cannot prescribe anything through this website).
