My 8-month-old dog suddenly barks at animals. Is it puberty?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Male | neutered | 8 months and 10 days old | 28 lbs

I don’t get it. My dogs aren’t aggressive at all. They have been exposed to all kinds of people, places, and animals since they were eight weeks old. Now, they are eight months and start barking at any animal they see as if they have never been outside before. They even go to doggy daycare and they don’t have any issues. Am I missing something?

It's likely this behavior is related to puberty. Sometimes temperament can change. Spaying and neutering may help but training is still needed. I also recommend to work with a trainer. Someone at doggie daycare may be able to help or recommend someone.
