My older cat is sneezing, throwing up, and not eating. Is he sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 years and 3 months old | 16 lbs

I'm worried that my older cat may be sick. He keeps sneezing and wasn't immediately wolfing down his food last night. Which leads me to believe that he's the one that threw up under the table that I had to clean up last night (Before I fed my cats). I was gone all day, yesterday, so to my knowledge, the sneezing just started today. I'm being a little superfluous asking, but I just want someone to either agree or disagree with my assessment. Do you think he's sick?

Hello! As a cat mom (of older cats as well!) I know how it feels to worry if they are sick or not! I can tell you that it is always better to be safe than sorry. Don't ever feel bad for worrying about your pets! If you are concerned, then you should take your cat to see your vet! The thing about cats... they are really good at hiding their pain and their illness! So if you, an obviously very in tune with your cat, owner, feels like your cat does not feel well, then you are probably right! Trust your gut! I hope your baby feels better soon and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions! I'm always available for consultations!
