My dog has low energy and trouble standing. Is it arthritis or injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 1 month old | 118 lbs

My dog woke up this morning with a bit less energy than usual. And now it seems he is having difficulty standing from a lying position. There seems to be no pain anywhere we touch or squeeze. He is a 5 year old Pitbull, and has never had any health issues besides some dry skin at times of season change. Could this be arthritis or some type of internal injury?

Poor Tank. Five years old is middle aged for a dog, and arthritis can start at middle age. Difficulty standing can be caused by arthritis. I'd take him into a vet today or tomorrow to get checked out. Best of luck.
