My dog might have eaten peach pits from the trash. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 60 lbs

My 60 pound dog knocked over the trash can that had 3 peach pits in it. I saw two of them not sure if the third was in the can still or if she got any of it, they were kind of mushy being in the garbage since monday evening. How concerned should I be? I am kind of freaking out over it

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would continue monitoring her closely for signs of a gastrointestinal obstruction such as vomiting, inappetence and abdominal pain. If this happens, have her evaluated by a veterinarian right away to check for this. While it is not too likely to happen given her large size, it is still a good idea to be pro active. If she does not develop any of these symptoms, she is likely going to be fine. I am hoping for the best!
