My 16-year-old dog is vomiting and won't lie down. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

My dog started to vomit this morning and vomited like 5 times. It seems his stomach is empty. He last ate yesterday evening but started vomiting this morning. He does not lay down, only stands still, looks meaningless, his tail stuck to his body. What is wrong with him? Does it look like he's poisoned? He had nausea prevention shot. He didnot vomit in an hour however he stands still. I'm worried. He is 16.

The stance in the picture and standing still likely means Spike's belly is still uncomfortable. I would recommend that he get checked out by a vet. Since he is an old guy, CBC, blood chemistry, urinalysis, with or without x-rays would be recommended to be able to determine if there is an underlying medical issue or if this is just simple nausea.
