Puppy biting hands, furniture, everything! How to stop a 7-week-old?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 18 days old | 4.1 lbs

My 7 week old puppy has been biting our hands, feet, face, shoes, clothes, furniture, towels, basically anything in her reach. We try giving her chew toys but she loses interest in 3 seconds. We tried giving her an old t-shirt and an old shoe, but she still keeps tearing at things. Why does she do this and how do we stop her from doing that?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Shelley. I do not recommend allowing her to chew on old shoes or clothing unless you do not mind her chewing on any shoes or clothing in your home. She will not be able to recognize the difference the old ones you have given her and items you are currently using. Instead, she needs plenty of exercise and time out of the house (walks, fetch, etc.) I also recommend enrolling her in puppy classes. This will be mentally stimulating for her. Then be clear with what toys are hers and encourage her to use them. Be consistent with her and she will learn. It does take time though. Good luck!
