Why won't my husky eat dog food, only treats and cooked beef?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 42 lbs

My husky isn’t eating her food. She is digesting some beef I feed her cooked. Not seasoned or nothing, and she’s defecting and urinating fine it seems. She’ll eat doggie treats but not dry dog food!! She’s a year and a half. Or so. I took her in from a friend who went to jail around 3 months old. He was feeding her wet dog food. I try to feed her wet dog food she won’t eat it ether.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Tundra evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Treatment would be based on findings. Good luck and have a good night! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
