Why is my new dog anxious, growling, trembling, and hard to train?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Recently adopted a female Australian cattledog and American pitbull mix. She was okay initially but her behavior seems different every day. She starts getting anxious or hiding around night time from me. She was okay with my husband initially but now growls on him all the time. Donot even have treats from him or let him call her name. Also i have noticed head tremors 3-4 times since we got her which really scared me. She is also getting difficult to potty train.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These types of behavior can improve though this does require in person training with the help of a qualified dog trainer. I would encourage you to contact a dog trainer that can work with you and her in person to really take care of this behavior. The sooner these behaviors are dealt with, the more likely it is that you can improve and resolve them. Good luck and have a good night!
