Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8.45 lbs
My cat had a vet appointment today and has to wear an Elizabethan collar. This is because she has lesions that the vet said arose from her picking at them from stress, because my family has been on vacation for a month, and she has been with a pet sitter. she has also been throwing up. But, now her breath rate is very high (120 per minute) ever since the collar was out on. She was very stressed, but has been calm for over an hour now, and her breath rate is still high. What can I do to help?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If this is really just from stress then you can consider giving her breaks wearing the e-collar. For example taking it off a few hours a day while being completely supervised to avoid further scratching. This can only be done if approved by your veterinarian who has more knowledge on the case. I would recommend you contact them to propose this to them and see if they agree this is a good plan again k knowing all the details about the case. If she had not been vomiting before you talked to your veterinarian and that is new, she should be evaluated again. Best of luck!
