My cow's leg is badly injured. Can it be fixed to avoid amputation?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Farm Animal | Cow | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 350 lbs

One of my cows met with an accident yesterday and her right back leg bone below the knee was out of her skin and her trotter got totally split from her leg. We tried to fix it using bamboo and cloth. She tried to stand up but she fell down. I consult a vet about this he said her trotter can’t be fixed and her leg should be cut, but I don’t want him to do this to her. Don’t know what to do now. Please help me out. Can her leg and trotter be fixed in any way please let me know.

Without seeing Milly in person, I can't say if her leg can be fixed in any way. Surgery may be an option for her, but her vet has to evaluate if that can be done. I suppose the other option would be to put her to sleep if this can't be fixed, as she cannot stay in this condition.
