Will my cat be okay if I don't leave food out for her overnight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 years and 7 months old

If I didn't leave my cat with food overnight will she cope? I've been told by a vet that she should only have dinner down for 10 mins and then nothing until the next meal. I feed her twice a day and I'm worried that leaving no dinner down overnight is wrong. Any advice would help a concerned Cat owner.

Yes, your cat will be fine physically if you don't leave food down over night. Mentally though, Misty may not like it and may complain. I assume Misty needs to lose some weight based upon the conversation with your vet, Here is a helpful link about weight loss: https://www.petcoach.co/article/frequently-asked-questions-regarding-overweight-cats/ I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
