How long should I wait between my dog's rabies and distemper shots?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 10 lbs

I took my two small dogs in for shots the other day, only to be told you can't give both rabies and distemper at the same time, I have to go back in a week. Is that exactly 7 days or will 6 or 5 days work?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dogs. I typically give these vaccines at the same time so this is just your veterinarian's preference to separate them. So the precise number of days should not matter. If 5 days is more convenient for your schedule, then that should be fine. I hope this information helps!
