How long should I wait between my dog's rabies and distemper shots?

I took my two small dogs in for shots the other day, only to be told you can't give both rabies and distemper at the same time, I have to go back in a week. Is that exactly 7 days or will 6 or 5 days work? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 10 lbs
