My cat still has worms after dewormer failed. Is a vet visit costly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 3 months and 21 days old | 5 lbs

My cat has worms even after we have her the correct amount of dewormer. We do not know if we should go to the vet because we don't know prices and we cannot pay a pricey vet bill right now.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Most of the time when dewormers fail to help is because the right medication is not being used for the parasite to be treated. That is why it is crucial to have her evaluated by a veterinarian so that they can check a stool sample and determine which deworming medication may be best to treat this with. Only with the right medication she will improve and a veterinarian can help you determine that. Best of luck!
