My cat is aggressive at the vet, delaying her spay. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 7.94 lbs

Coco has behaved agitated both the times I last took her to vet. She didn't let the vet take her blood samples even. Due to which there has been delay in her spaying. Both the times she has scratched and bit me badly. What am I supposed to do? How to address this behaviour?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ideally, you should contact a cat behaviorist in your area to help you in person with her behavior. However, spaying her would likely help with this behavior. Your veterinarian can consider sedating her so that they are able to proceed with taking the blood samples and the spay to see if that helps. Otherwise, it would be best to have someone help you in person to modify her behavior. Best of luck!
