My dog has a raw spot under her leg. Hot spot or leash rub?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bully | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 26 days old | 15 lbs

Raw spot under right front leg. Started as a scab. I think it may be where her leash gets caught under that leg the most. Worried that it may be a hot spot starting. What can I do for it?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Right now what I would do is monitor her to check for progression of this lesion. If it becomes scaly or infected, have her evaluated by a veterinarian. Otherwise, if it is just from the leash, she is likely going to improve on her own. If she taken to the veterinarian and a hot spot is confirmed, antibiotics and steroids will be recommended. Best of luck!
