My dog has yellow fur on paws. Is it hyperkeratosis or skin disease?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 7 years and 5 months old | 125 lbs

My husky has yellow fur on her paws which I'm thinking is hyperkeratosis. What do you recommend to treat it? (I don't have any pictures)

Hyperkeratosis only effects the pads of the paws, not the fur. Yellow fur can occur due to contact with dark coloring staining substances like berries, mud...etc. Yellow fur can also be a sign of skin disease. Look closely at Storm's skin. It should be pale white and smooth. If the skin is flakey, red or has scabs, there is likely an infection and he should be examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
