My pregnant cat died suddenly, struggling to breathe. What happened?

My cat just died recently and I have no idea of what caused her death. She was pregnant allegedly for a month or two. Her belly has enlarged as well as her nipples. She was doing just fine until I noticed the past few weeks that her neck area is thin. Despite her being heavy. She was eating but not much until she stopped eating for 4 days and the final day did not even bothered to move . I thought she was in labor. Then she was capturing her breath and died.
