My dog's TTA incision has pus. Is it infected and not weight-bearing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 6 months old

My dog had a tta operation on 22 july. It's the second one she has had. I have noticed today there is a little bit of pus on the incision wound which wasn't there before. I'm concerned this is infected shes also still not weight bearing on that leg is this usual.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tilly. Pus from a surgical incision site is worrisome as like you said, it typically indicates an infection. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian as soon as possible. She may need to be started on antibiotics or take a different one if she is already taking them. In the meantime, be sure that she is not l licking the incision site as this will only make it worse. I hope this information helps!
