What is this pink, hairless, tough spot on my dog's muzzle?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 9 months old | 115 lbs

My dog has a spot on his muzzle that started as a sore and now has healed to a bright pink, hairless, tough spot on his muzzle. He has flea allergy dermatitis. I want to make sure I shouldn’t be worried?

I'm so sorry but it is very difficult for us to give advice without seeing this spot. Can you post again with some photos? This spot could be anything from ringworm, a bacterial or yeast infection, an autoimmune disease, solar dermatitis, etc. If we could see some photos we can help you better. Thanks.
