My cat lost a friend, is breathing heavy & twitching. How to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 months and 9 days old | 3 lbs

My cats best friend died and now he seems depressed and has trouble sleeping at night. I don’t know how to explain it but it seems like a nightmare to me. He starts breathing heavy and and starts twitching. I would like some advice on what I can do at home to help him. Please.

Losing a family member can be rough, but I don't usually see it cause a change in breathing. I would recommend having Creed examined by a vet to rule out respiratory or heart issues first. If everything checks out ok, then the vet can discuss the circumstances surrounding the anxiety and help you determine if supplements or prescription medications are needed.
