My cat's eye is red and he can't keep it open. What's happening?

My cat woke up this morning and his eye is red and he doesn’t keep it open long and he keeps closing it, what should I do?

It sounds like Nemo's eye is painful. I would recommend having him examined by a vet to determine the cause. There could be an ulcer, infection, conjunctivitis, or something stuck under the eyelid. The vet will do an exam and may stain the eye to check for ulcers.
