My older dog has hip pain, is vomiting, and aging fast. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed

I have 2 dogs Sally and bella, they are sisters from same litter. The only difference is Sally has aged more. Bella has no grey hair at all, but Sally is quickly growing a fair amount. Sally also seems to have hip problems after she goes for a run at the park and naturally she is alot more chilled then bella. Lately I have notice Sally has been sick (throwing up) on the odd occasion aswell. I am gona take her to the vet as soon as I have enough money, but ur thoughts wuld b appreciated. Thanks

Pets are individuals and they all age differently, just like human siblings. Although they are litter mates, they are not twins and thus have different genetics. It sounds like Sally may be developing some dysplasia or arthritis (although other causes are also possible). The vomiting may also be indicating an ongoing disease process. I do recommend to have Sally examined as soon as you can. Pets can vomit for many reasons and she should likely be checked for parasites and have some base line bloodwork. You may also consider starting her on a joint supplement for pets. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any addtional questions.
