My Great Dane is losing weight and hacking. Is it serious?

My Great Dane has started loosing weight and has this hack like something stuck in his throat. He is vaccinated and has not been out other than our backyard. I think he has an ear infection and I have medicine but every time I try to put some in his ear he runs. He’s about 130 pounds so it’s hard for me to do in fact he will try and bite someone who is trying. Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Male | neutered | 6 years and 8 months old | 130 lbs

I'm concerned that Chief is starting to lose weight, and that can have some pretty serious causes. He could have a respiratory infection or even heart disease causing the hacking. I'd take him into a vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
