What are affordable Denamarin alternatives for my dog's liver health?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 13 years and 5 months old | 21 lbs

Hi there , my dog was diagnosed with an inflamed liver and gall bladder due to a build up of bile In March and was given destolit and denamarin supplement . Destolit stopped when she was scanned and given the all clear but vet recommended she stay on denamarin. I just wondered if there was a cheaper alternative as it’s very expensive monthly and my dog has lots of problems with her eyes and having an eye op next week , is there anything else we could use for her that’s similar ? Thank you

I would talk to your vet about alternative supplements to Denamarin. This is an antioxidant supplement containing S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) and silymarin, which can usually be found at a human pharmacy, but you need to get the dose from your vet.
