Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Ferret | Male | neutered | 11 months and 24 days old | 2 lbs

My ferret has been acting strange a couple of days ago he was perfectly fine then all the sudden he stopped eating, drinking, and using the bathroom. I took him to a vet yesterday they said it was dehydration and gave him a liquid through the back under the skin they gave me carnivore care and then a medicine that lines and heals the stomach. Today he seems to be getting better some but not much he is running around some a d is eating and drinking but no poop is there anything i can do to help!?

I'm glad he's feeling a bit better but remember, it hasn't even been 24 hours with the medication and fluids. The treatment is not magic; you need to give it some time to work. I would not expect him to be pooping when he hasn't been eating. Don't get too hung up on the pooping right now. That is not a huge issue at this point. Just make sure he is eating and definitely use the Critical Care.
